Healing-Centered Approaches to Addressing Adolescent Relationship Abuse and Trafficking

Webinar description: School-based health providers can play an important role in promoting healthy relationships among adolescents. This webinar, co-hosted by the School-Based Health Alliance will offer strategies for talking about relationship abuse and trafficking with adolescent patients in school-based health settings. Presenters will offer a brief overview of adolescent relationship abuse and its impact on health; strategies to promote universal prevention education, assessment and response; and model protocols for the clinical setting. Speakers will also share strategies to build partnerships with community-based violence prevention programs and ideas for collaborating with youth on prevention initiatives.

Learning objectives: As a result of this webinar participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the CUES (confidentiality, universal education and empowerment, support) approach as a strategy for educating students about healthy relationships and providing resources to students regardless of a disclosure of ARA or trafficking
  2. Identify three strategies for creating successful partnerships between school-based health centers and community-based violence prevention programs
  3. Identify three strategies for meaningfully partnering with youth to promote healthy relationships and prevent relationship violence
