Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation: Year Four Recap

As we celebrate our fourth year of operating Health Partners on IPV +Exploitation, a HRSA-funded NTTAP, we are proud to share some of our recent successes. These accomplishments were made possible through the active engagement of our constituents and partners.

In the last year –

We hosted:

2 in-depth learning collaboratives: one on advancing health equity for survivors of IPV/exploitation and the other on coordinating care and safety for survivors at the intersection of behavioral health and IPV.

8 webinars on a range of topics such as emergency preparedness and support for survivors of IPV, oral health and trauma-informed settings, intersection of homelessness and IPV and many more. Many of our webinars were hosted with ASL and Spanish interpretation. Click here to watch archived webinars.

We collaborated with NTTAP Partners:

Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO)

National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)

National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH)

National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP)

National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC)

National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA)

School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA)

Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Academy

And collaborated with other organizational partners:

eClinicalWorks

National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Mental Health

OCHIN

And partner with an evaluation team at the University of Pittsburgh as well as a cadre of experts including survivors with lived experience on the topics.

We developed new tools and resources for health center staff:

– A policy memo on how health center staff can use social referral platforms to connect patients to community-based domestic violence programs.

– An oral health team fact sheet on providing inclusive and sensitive care to patients, with a lens of survivors of IPV/HT/E.

– A health brochure for patients, focusing on those who have experienced or are experiencing violence to help them have better visits and access safety support.

– An infographic illustrating the benefits of partnerships and bi-directional referrals between health centers and domestic and sexual violence advocacy programs.

– An educational brief focusing on equipping HCs with the necessary tools and knowledge to support Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islander survivors of IPV and HT during natural disasters and public health emergencies.

We presented workshops at the following conferences:

We’re thrilled to enter our fifth year as a BPHC-funded NTTAP, collaborating with health centers on issues of IPV, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our ongoing partnerships with health centers, community-based organizations, and other NTTAPs within the HRSA Health Center Program will continue to enhance health and safety outcomes for survivors.
