People Experiencing Homelessness

Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness for women and children. According to a 2010 report from the National Center for Children in Poverty, “among mothers with children experiencing homelessness, more than 80 percent had previously experienced domestic violence.” Additionally, LGBTQ youth disproportionately experience homelessness or housing insecurity and often become involved in the sex trade as a means of survival and in exchange for food and shelter. Health Partners seeks to address IPV, HT, and exploitation as it intersects with homelessness and build the capacity of health centers in partnership with community-based advocacy programs to support survivors who are also experiencing homelessness.
