Health related needs largely impact communities that are disenfranchised because they are most often burdened by their negative effects. Research shows that health care access for farmworkers are disproportionately affected by health related needs including workplace harassment/sexual assault and intimate partner violence (IPV). This presentation will provide an overview of the importance of screening for health related needs to identify key barriers to care and feature health center innovative screening techniques and workflows for specific health related factors amongst Migratory and Seasonal Agricultural populations. The panel will also share existing tools and resources to address health related needs, including a new safety card tool on IPV.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the impact of health-related factors, including workplace sexual assault/harassment and IPV, on the health of Migratory and Seasonal Agricultural workers.

  • Identify and implement screening tools into their health center workflows to address health related needs.

  • Implement strategies to improve how a health center identifies and responds to health-related needs, including IPV, workplace assault, and human trafficking, to support patient safety and improve health outcomes.
