Collaborating to Address Intimate Partner Violence in Rural Areas (Community of Practice: 4 Virtual Sessions)

Date: Wednesdays: April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20, 2026

@12 pm PST/1pm MST/2pm CST/3pm EST (4 – 60-minute sessions)

Description:

Health Partners on IPV+ Exploitation will host four virtual educational sessions to discuss intimate partner violence (IPV), including: prevalence and definitions; clinical change strategies including the CUES intervention; HRSA’s UDS measures on IPV/exploitation, and referrals and collaboration strategies to develop comprehensive HC responses. The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations and the National Center for Farmworker Health will lead one session each.

Community of Practice:

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a small cohort learning environment which entails faculty-driven presentation and discussion as well as bi-directional learning between and among attendees with time to ask questions. CoPs provide an in-depth review of a specific topic across four sessions; feature curriculum delivered by faculty; and include interactivity and discussion to advance skills.

Participation in all four sessions is strongly recommended as each session builds upon the other to deepen understanding.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this CoP, cohort members will be able to:

  • Session 1 – Impacts of Intimate Partner Violence in Rural Communities
    • Describe the health impacts of intimate partner violence and key considerations for rural communities
  • Session 2 – Addressing the unique needs of rural communities
    • Identify the specific needs of communities in rural settings, considering local population dynamics
  • Session 3 – Strategies and best practices for developing partnerships
    • Implement strategies for creating meaningful partnerships with CBOs to increase rural community access to care
  • Session 4: Strengthening partnerships
    • Utilize 2 resources to strengthen health center partnerships with DV/SA agencies

Deadline to register: April 15, 2026

Notes: All four sessions will be offered on Zoom in English, with closed captioning capabilities and simultaneous Spanish interpretation available.

We invite staff from health centers (HCs) including CHWs and frontline staff, primary care associations (PCAs), and collaborative partners within local/state/territory community programs, including anti-domestic violence and human trafficking programs, to apply.

We encourage all applicants to identify one staff member as the main applicant and submit one application per site. You may add multiple colleagues to the registration.

Please note that we will schedule one, 15–20-minute conversation with some accepted applicants before the CoP begins. This is an opportunity to provide input on the CoP and share any related efforts to date.
