Description: Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation and National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma & Mental Health (NCDVTMH) are excited to announce that we are offering a four-session community of practice (CoP) focusing on the connections between IPV and exploitation and mental and behavioral health as well as substance use coercion. This (CoP) will offer strategies for health centers to assess for abuse and coercion and tailor safety plans that take interference and abuse exposure into consideration. We will explore the critical role that partnerships can play between community-based organizations and health centers to sustain programs that support survivors and promote prevention. We will feature a panel of survivors with lived experience, joined by training and technical assistance faculty.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of this (CoP) , participants will be better able to:
To understand the patterns of IPV known as substance use and mental health coercion
Develop and implement an action plan by using the PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) model to support the implementation of CUES, an evidence-based prevention and intervention practice
Use a Substance Use and Mental Health Coercion Palm Card with their patients/clients.
Identify where to locate additional resources about substance use and mental health coercion.
Identify practices that support the vicarious resilience of staff

Session 3: Panel on Mental Health & Substance Use Coercion + PDSA tool discussion
Session 4: Caring for your own mental health and practice self-compassion
