Duration: 90 minutes

Description: Intimate partner violence (IPV) and maternal mortality among mothers remain under-discussed and under-resourced issues, yet they are critical to ensuring the safety and well-being of expectant mothers. This webinar will feature individual and organizational level strategies that health centers can implement to improve health outcome for mothers who have experienced IPV. We will hear from an OB/GYN working to improve the clinical response to IPV, as well as from a survivor about their experience with the healthcare system during pregnancy and birth. The evidence-based CUES intervention, an adaptable health center protocol, and tools for building partnerships and strengthening connections between health centers and domestic violence advocates and other community-based programs will be shared. This session emphasizes the importance of clinical practices in supporting mothers’ health and healing.
Learning Objectives: As a result of this webinar participants will be able to:
1. Explain the connection between IPV and maternal health outcomes
2. Identify three survivor-centered IPV prevention and intervention practices and strategies
3. Define the IPV evidence-based intervention and CUES
4. Integrate tools that can be used to build partnership and collaboration between health centers and DV organizations
