Join Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation, Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), and National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) for a four-part learning collaborative (LC) focused on integrating the needs of survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV), human trafficking (HT), and exploitation (E) into emergency preparedness for health centers (HCs) and their partners.
Evidence shows that IPV/HT/E surge during public health emergencies and natural disasters, as seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the COVID-19 Pandemic. These emergencies exacerbate existing structural inequities, such as inadequate language access, economic insecurity, transportation barriers, housing insecurity, and geographic isolation, all of which disproportionately impact marginalized survivors and their access to care.
LC session content will include adaptable protocols, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), and other strategies and resources to foster partnership between HCs and community-based organizations, including domestic violence programs.
As a result of this Learning Collaborative, participants will be better able to:
Four live sessions will be held Jan 22, 2025 to Feb 12, 2025. They will be hosted via Zoom on Wednesdays at 7am HST/10am PST/11am MST/12pm CST/1pm EST for 60 minute sessions followed by an optional 15 min consultation (75 minutes total) and will include presentation and discussion facilitated by faculty as well as bi-directional learning between and among attendees with time to ask questions.
Notes: If you need any accommodations to best support your participation, let us know on the application by November 22, 2024.
Please note that we will schedule one, 15-20 minute conversation with some accepted applicants before the LC begins. This is an opportunity to provide input on the LC and share any related efforts to date.
We encourage all health centers and organizations to identify one staff member as the main applicant and submit one application per site. You may add multiple colleagues to registration.
